In this weeks Fairfield Citizen newspaper I read under the political mailbag column a few letters in support of Mr. Metsopoulos submitted by his supporters. A letter states we should vote for Mr. Metsopoulos because his mother Sophie,who is now deceased unfoutunatly due to cancer, would be so proud of him. Well I don't think any mother would be proud of a son who is reelected due a vote of sympathy for a son with such a hot temper. I know at least ninety eight percent of this town is completely unaware of the way he treats people during town meeting open to the public.( I can only imagine what he does behind closed doors) He does not respect peoples open opinions on what they believe is the right thing nor is he willing to listen. Mr Metsopoulos only wants what is on his own agenda and he will fix the vote so he gets what he wants. Recently Mr Metsopoulos seems to using the duck and cover technique to avoid bad press so close to election time. I saw a rare site in this weeks edition of the Minuteman, Mr Metsopoulos making a grand opening ribbon cutting for the Operation Hope Chest. A Jacky Durrell founded program also his biggest supporter. Alot of new buisnesses opened in the past year and a half and I think I can count on one hand if he has been there for them. Just a quick remark on the high school issue. There will be two high schools as voted on by our towns boards and commissions. I don't think Ms. Carroll-Mirylees will even bring it back to the table. All battles have been fought and the high school war is over. Let us not forget who closed Roger Ludlowe in the first place. (The Jacky Durrell admistration) The town would not be in this situation if they kept Ludlowe open in the first place. John Metsopoulos is being backed by the Republican party only because he is the incumbant. If he chose not to run they would be breathing a sigh of relief. He chose Margret "Pinky" Anderson (politics is just a hobby for her) to be his running mate because he needs the district one (Southport) republican vote and the Andersons have a boatload of money and power that he needs. So when you vote in the primary on Sept. 11 remember to pull the Mary Carroll- Mirylees lever for a stronger and understanding town government
